Touching Incidents
HAPPY REUNION - RAGHURAM WITH HIS MOTHER
After being rescued and given shelter, food and clothing, the inmates are at peace and feel at home. About 20 inmates could recollect details of their village, parents/relatives or phone number. With the help of the nearby police station i.e., Dundigal police station, the details given were explored with the help of the other police stations. The ration card, voter identity card helped in verifying the particulars of the inmates. These inmates were safely handed over to the relatives. Thus many families have got back their sons, brothers, fathers, mothers and sisters.
There were programmes about the Pallavi Home on all important TV channels and articles in all leading newspapers. We were surprised when a family in Warangal saw a photo of one of the inmates, Raghuram, in a newspaper and called us on the number which was given in the article. The family turned up at the Home the next day. It gave me enormous pride to see the joy reflected in the eyes of the mother meeting her long lost son of 50 years. The exultant relief and delighted cry of joy are imprinted in my memory. These are hardly events that happen every day and by any means seem strange and unreal. I could see the shades of pain quickly change into unprecedented joy. I was surprised to learn that the inmate was an engineer!
